When this woman went for a drive one day, she never expected to save a life or get a ticket, and her story is something truly remarkable. It all happened while Christina Hamlett was driving down the highway (288 in Virginia). While she was driving, she spotted a tiny, scared tabby kitten on the side of the road.
She couldn’t believe her eyes and immediately rushed to the rescue. The poor little kitten was just lying on the side of road motionless. And due to the traffic, Christina knew that she had little time to save the kitten.
What happened next?
She made the right decision when she decided to turn into the Authorized Vehicle Only area as she believed it was an emergency. Even though she got a ticket for it, she was determined to do everything she can to save the kitten.
“I circled back and low and behold, the kitty was alive… We think he was thrown because he suffered a head trauma,” Christina told Awesome Cats.
She then gently picked up the terrified little kitten and wrapped him in a towel. While she was holding the kitten in her arms, she gently petted the scared adorable kitten on his head. The kitten calmed down as if he knew that he is finally safe.
She later named the kitten “Lucky.”
With the help from a volunteer of St. Francis Humane Association, Lucky was taken to the vet where they treated his injuries. Soon, the little guy started to recover.
“He’s doing great! A good friend of mine (from St. Francis Humane Association) is taking really good care of him,” Christina told Awesome Cats.
The tabby boy is now in foster care and can’t wait for his forever home where he will be loved and spoiled. We hope that Lucky will be lucky enough to find a forever loving home where he will be able to play as much as he loves. A home where he will feel loved, and most importantly, a home where he will be safe.
